Lean Mean Cooking Machine

Over the weekend I picked up the new Deen Family Cookbook, and holy moly I am addicted to the recipes in there. That Paula Deen sure knows how to cook. I did although have to modify the recipes to not clog my arteries, but they still turned out fabulous.

This year I am going to try to cook new recipes 6 days a week and really get into cooking. Don't get me wrong I have always loved cooking, but I really am going to try to make it a certified hobby. Hopefully my waistline will not be hurt in the process.

I have a bunch of the Rachel Ray cookbooks, and the recipes are delicious, but it bothers me how many ingredients are necessary for one dish.

What are some of your favorite cookbooks?

I love moosewood cooks at home, Young and Hungry, and of course Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything. You should share the recipes you like (along with the modifications you make), maybe for a menu monday?

I love Ina Garten's cookbooks. (The Barefoot Contessa). The recipes are mostly simple and delicious, without being overly complicated.

I love my Southern Living one. But the ones I use the most? The binder I created from printing recipes off from the internet! Good luck! This has been my new hobby too!

I own a lot of Rachael Ray's cookbooks and I find that I just don't cook from them. At all.

The two I've used a lot recently are The Pioneer Woman's cookbook & Make it Fast, Cook it Slow by Stephanie O'Dea (http://crockpot365.blogspot.com).

Happy cooking!

I have a couple of RR cookbooks and I never cook from them...I am with you, too many ingredients, and too many oddball ingredients that I never have in my pantry and don't want to buy for just one meal.

I am loving the new Pioneer Woman cookbook, as well as my trusty ol' Taste of Home cookbook. I get a LOT of my recipes from the internet, though!

I just got the Pioneer Woman Cooks cookbook--I think I'm going to like it because it's "real" food made from "real" ingredients.

ya sometimes all the ingredients in the RR books drives me nuts but thats the majority of what we have too. we also got giada for our wedding but haven't made anything out of it yet.

can't wait to hear how some of the paula recipes are... and how you modify them to reduce the amount of butter!
