Every once in a while my husband goes out to check the fluids in my car, since my vehicle is super old. He came back upstairs and told me that my coolant was low and he filled it up, and also told me I should not drive to work without getting oil in my car first.
'Excuse me, what?' I looked at him like he was asking me to perform brain surgery. After a small discussion of what to get, I drove bravely to the gas station and picked up some oil. I went to the cashier and asked her for 'that paper thing for the oil' (no joke, at times I am such a stereotypical girl). She said 'you mean a funnel?' I told her yes, and was pleased that she knew enough from my description what I meant.
I walked out of the gas station and popped my hood (which was amazing since I have never done more than pull the lever from inside for hubby to take care of the rest), and off I went! Seriously though, if you were watching me from the side you would think I knew what I was doing.
I was extremely please with myself and have now added mechanic to my repertoire. This is a useful task for me to know, and so I am glad I was told to do it on my own. However, I will still have hubby do it as much as possible. Driving to work with oil on your hands is not cute.
How would you rate your mechanic skills?

I'm the same way. I have Matt do everything for my car. When he came in for r and r he totally had me pop the hood so he could show me where to add oil so I wouldnt forget till he got back.
Good for you!!! I was so excited when I learned how to check my tire pressure, haha. Pathetic!
Good for you!!!
I dont have a car anymore, I use the subway, hahaha... but i wouldnt know the first thing on how to fix one!! good for you dolly, xxxooo
i hate cars. i drove an old car too till i graduated from college and it drove me nuts!
i didn't fill my car with gas till college bc my dad did it all! haha
i'm getting better...but i have a really good mechanic!
Good for you!
My mechanic skills are entirely non-existent! But it's okay, because I don't have a car. Ha! My fiance has a car, so my fiance takes care of it for now. :D
Im horrible at car stuff..i can to the oil and thats about it.
You go girl! My Daddy taught me a little something about cars growing up. I can change spark plugs and wires, can do an oil change, and that air filter thingey on top of the engine. (Sounds technical, huh?)
Good job!!
The extent of my mechanical skills: pumping gas, checking the tire pressure and adding windshield washer fluid.
I know how to call my dad, my bf and if all else fails AAA.
I can change a tire and jump a car. and add all the fluids. But why mess up my mani when there are men around to do it for us?
